The former Netherlands international striker was appointed as the club’s new head-coach in September on a three-year-deal.
Early results were positive for Hasselbaink but the club has now gone nine games without a win and currently sit 22nd in the league. Monday’s 2-0 loss to Peterborough was the final straw for the Northampton Town board and later in the day it was confirmed that Hasselbaink had been sacked.
Northampton Town was the fourth club of Hasselbaink’s managerial career so far after spells with Antwerp, Burton Albion and QPR.
