Sparta Rotterdam has confirmed the signing of NAC Breda goalkeeper Nick Olij.

The 26-year-old was named the best goalkeeper in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie last season and was even told by Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal to join AZ Alkmaar when accepting the award.

Olij has moved to the Eredivisie, but he has signed a 4-year contract with Sparta Rotterdam and must replace Maduka Okoye who has left the club to join Watford in England.

Olij becomes the 4th summer signing for Sparta after Youri Schoonderwaldt, defender Mike Eerdhuijzen and attacker Charles-Andreas Brym.

Olij started his career with AZ Alkmaar, but joined NAC Breda in 2019 after a loan spell with Top OSS. He made 115 appearances for NAC Breda.
