Groningen has recorded their first win of the season after a slender 1-0 victory over Go Ahead Eagles.

Within three minutes, Groningen had the lead with Ramon Pascal Lundqvist working the ball against the post and it bounced off goalkeeper Jeffrey de Lange and ended in the net.

Ragnar Oratmangoen had a good chance after cutting in from the wing but the winger fired just wide. After this, Go Ahead Eagles grew into the game and Isac Lidberg had a chance to equalise but his finish was weak.

The visitors continued to press after the break but Rashaan Fernandes missed two chances to level the scores. Groningen then made a triple change but Go Ahead Eagles continued to press for the equaliser. Fernandes headed a good chance just wide.

In the last fifteen minutes, Cyril Ngonge could have added a second for the hosts but he curled just wide. In the end it didn’t matter as Groningen held on for the three points.

Groningen are now tenth after recording their first win while Go Ahead Eagles are pointless.
