Cody Gakpo had a Premier League debut to forget as Liverpool lost 3-0 to Brighton and Hove Albion.

Liverpool went into the game without a number of players, including Virgil van Dijk, and Jurgen Klopp decided to start Gakpo as the striker.

Gakpo played the full game, but he hardly got a chance as Brighton ran out 3-0 victors thanks to a double from Sully March and a Danny Welbeck effort.

Joel Veltman came on in the 66th minute for Brighton, who now climb above Liverpool in the table. Liverpool are currently ninth after 18 games and 16 points off top spot.
