ADO Den Haag saw off fellow strugglers RKC Waalkwijk 2-0 as Alan Pardew’s reign got off to a winning start.

Pardew was appointed the new head coach of ADO Den Haag during the winter break with the job of keeping ADO Den Haag in the Eredivisie.

For the clash against bottom side RKC Waalwijk, Pardew gave debuts to four new signings. Sam Stubbs, George Thomas, Laurens de Bock and Mick van Buren all started. The fans also showed their appreciation for their new head coach with an outstanding Ghostbusters themed banner before kick-off.

RKC Waalwijk wanted to spoil the party and they got a big chance to open the scoring but Sylla Sow was denied by Luuk Koopmans in the 20th minute.

In the 32nd minute, ADO Den Haag took the lead with a free-kick headed in from close range by an unmarked Shaquille Pinas.

The hosts were in control in the second half and with twelve minutes to go, Crysencio Summerville was brought down just outside the box by Hannes Delcroix, earning the RKC defender a red card. Aaron Meijers curled in the free-kick to make it 2-0 and wrap up the victory.

Pardew’s reign begins with a much-needed victory that lifts ADO above VVV and into 16th spot. RKC remains rock-bottom.
