With PSV tasting defeat for the first time earlier in the day, PEC Zwolle knew that a win over NAC Breda would have seen them overtake the Eindhoven club, and go back to the top of the table.
The home side dominated from start to finish, but could not find a way past their opponents, who were full of confidence after back to back wins.
In the first half the home side had 75% of the possession, but saw chances for Mateusz Klich, and Guyon Fernandez go begging.
In the second half NAC Breda came into the game more, as PEC Zwolle seemed to run out of ideas on how to break an organised defence down.
NAC Breda remain 15th in the table, while PEC Zwolle stick in second place, but will know that this was a real missed opportunity to regain top spot.
