Stef Nijland’s last minute equaliser earned PEC Zwolle a 1-1 draw with Heracles Almelo on Saturday night.

Heracles, like PEC Zwolle in recent years, have made an unexpected rise up the Eredivisie table this season, and their excellent form continued in the early stages on Saturday. After 17 minutes PEC Zwolle centre back Thomas Lam failed to clear his lines, allowing Jaroslav Navratil to pounce and set up Wout Weghorst for a simple finish.
That early goal seemed to be enough to settle the win for Heracles, especially when Ryan Thomas and Lars Veldwijk both missed great chances to equalise in the second half.
However five minutes into stoppage time Stef Nijland proved to be the hero for PEC Zwolle as he sent a bouncing shot past Bram Castro to earn his side a point.
Heracles climb temporarily above PSV into third, while PEC Zwolle sit seventh.
