finn boPEC Zwolle started brightly with Ryan Thomas firing just over the bar from inside the box within the first minute.

However on 32 minutes Heerenveen were awarded a penalty when goalkeeper Diederik Boer brought down Luciano Slagveer in the box. Alfred Finnbogason made no mistake from the spot to put the away side in front.

Ten minutes into the second half, Zwolle defender Joost Broerse leveled the scores with an excellent free-kick which flew past Heerenveen keeper Kristoffer Nordfeldt.

The win lifts Marco van Basten’s side up to 5th in the league, and only six points behind leaders Vitesse. PEC Zwolle’s early form has seen a real dip, and its now six games without a win for Ron Jans side, who sit 9th.
