The home side made a good start with Renato Ibarra causing numerous problems for the PEC Zwolle backline, but they failed to break the deadlock, with Valeri Qazaishvili passing up an excellent chance.
PEC Zwolle played on the counter, and they were unlucky not to receive a penalty before the break when Lars Veldwijk went down under the challenge of Maikel van der Werff, with Ed Janssen waving play on to the disbelief of Ron Jans.
Eventually after 65 minutes the deadlock was broken by Vitesse with Renato Ibarra’s cross deflected into his own goal by Bram van Polen. However the lead didn’t last long with Dirk Marcellis working Sheraldo Becker’s cross into the net from close range three minutes later.
The draw means Vitesse now sit 6th, while PEC Zwolle are 8th.
