veldwijk foreA new striker is the top priority for PEC Zwolle this summer after Tomas Necid’s second loan spell from CSKA Moscow ended in the summer.

Speaking to Voetbal International, PEC Zwolle director Gerard Nijkamp confirmed the club are unlikely to make Necid’s loan permanent this summer with the out of contract Czech international attracting a lot of interest. Nijkamp said, “We have received signals that he is negotiating with other clubs. I’m not going to assume that Tomás is still playing here next season.”

Almere City striker Vincent Janssen is a target but his asking fee may be too much for PEC Zwolle, while PSV are unwilling to loan out Jurgen Locadia. Attention’s have now turned to Nottingham Forest’s Lars Veldwijk who may be available on loan this summer.

On Veldwijk, Nijkamp confirmed talks with Nottingham Forest. “We are interested and have contacted his club. Lars may be rented, therefore it is interesting for us.”

Veldwijk was Eerste Divisie top scorer in 2014 after netting 30 goals in 34 games for Excelsior, but after moving to England the 23-year-old has failed to find the net in 14 appearances.
