Heracles Almelo overcame PEC Zwolle 2-1 in an entertaining clash at the Polman Stadion.

After a strong start to the campaign, PEC Zwolle’s form has dipped in recent weeks with only one win in their last five league games. They started brightly in Almelo and got the first big chance of the game, but Piotr Parzyszek couldn’t connect to Kingsley Ehizibue’s cross.

Heracles grew into the game and after Brandley Kuwas hit the bar twice, Kristoffer Peterson eventually gave them the lead on 42 minutes, nodding in a cross at the back post.

Moments into the second half, Heracles nearly doubled their lead with Diederik Boer denying Kuwas with a great reflex save. A minute later, PEC Zwolle went down the other end and Parzyszek fired past Bram Castro to make it 1-1.

PEC Zwolle were only level for ten minutes before Vincent Vermeij netted from Peterson’s cross to make it 2-1 for Heracles.

Both sides then traded chances before the end but there was no further goals. Heracles move 12th with the win, while PEC Zwolle sit 6th.
