The Amsterdam club are aiming to record their second win in the competition when Standard visit the Amsterdam Arena on Thursday but they will be without midfielder Hakim Ziyech. Coach Peter Bosz doesn’t see Ziyech’s absence as an issue though and singled out striker Kasper Dolberg for praise.
Bosz said, “We will replace Hakim Ziyech with another player and I will discuss the tactics with the squad. We have studied Standard Liege and we are aware that they have had a difficult start to the season where they have also changed their manager too and they have managed to find a style of play that suits them.
“Kasper Dolberg has impressed me since he joined us from our youth teams. He did not play too much last teams due to injury so we will be careful with him and not to let him burn himself out.
“We have rotated this season which I have found difficult because we are always searching for the right balance. I have told the players that we will need everyone this season due to injuries and suspensions. It is up to me and my staff to explain that in a clear way to the players.
“We are developing all the time as team and the way we play and I believe that we are constantly improving.”
