Cocu stated his belief that should PSV Eindhoven not become champions then they would have failed in their season objective. The club currently sit third and eight points behind leaders Feyenoord.

He said, ”If I look at how the first half of the season went. We are currently not in the position that we want to be in but at least we have something to fight for. Normally we are also better in the 2nd half of the season but there is no guarantee that will also be the case this season.

”We have experience in winning league titles that Feyenoord do not have. Feyenoord could find themselves in a position of dealing with the pressure to become champions. We also have to play Ajax in April which will be a very important game. If we do not win the league then we would have failed because that is our objective for this season.”
