Spencer Steevensz thinks that PSV Eindhoven’s luck is set to change this season, and that could lead them to the Eredivisie title.

PSV KFNKLast season, everything went wrong for PSV, who finished third. Captain Georginio Wijnaldum picked up a near season long back injury, the team went on a 6-game winless streak right before the winter break, and coach Philip Cocu missed the end of the trying season due to a back surgery to remove a tumor.

This season, PSV looks poised to win back the Eredivisie crown. It’s been seven seasons since the Eindhoven outfit ended at the top of the table, and this is the year to break it. Feyenoord has lost its former coach, Ronald Koeman, and almost entire star defensive line to other leagues, while champions Ajax have lost captain Siem De Jong, amongst other important players, and it seems midfielder Daley Blind won’t be in Amsterdam by the transfer window’s end.

For PSV, the story is different. They’ve acquired striker Luuk De Jong, who will look to regain his goal scoring form after failed seasons in the bundesliga and a disappointing loan to Newcastle in England. World Cup stars Georginio Wijnaldum and Memphis Depay, who has been linked to several big clubs, may be in Eindhoven for, likely just, this season due to PSV renegotiating his contract to keep him around.

It also looks like PSV will have its star central defensive team of Jeffery Bruma and Karim Rekik back in-tact with Rekik looking less and less likely to break out to Manchester City’s first team after only playing a handlful of minutes in their pre-season campaign.

The likes of Feyenoord, Ajax, Twente and AZ will still be hard to beat, and the competition will certainly be fierce; however, its been a long time since PSV Eindhoven have won the Eredivisie, and if they play their cards right, the drought should end this season.

I'm a digital/social marketer out of Chicago. I grew up loving Dutch football - total football is the only way to play. I support PSV in the Eredivisie, and whatever team has the most Dutch guys on it in any other league. Hup Holland Hup!
