Hi Lads, good podcast.
Not agreeing with your selections though – based on the need for change and looking to build a team and partnerships for the future – to win championships – rather than looking for short term results.
That is, for me Dost, Strootman shouldn’t be in the squad let alone the starting line up.
On the whole the squad seems to be going the right way though.
Two players that I think should play an important part going forward were not in the squad – Frankie De Jong (injury) and Idrissi (u21s). They need to be.
I think Weghorst looks the goods and it would help if Idrissi was there with him. They would gain confidence off each other – and confidence is key.
I like Wijnaldum but I just think he never developed from when playing 10 and captain with PSV to playing a DM. He doesn’t provide the attitude/steel the Dutch need in that poistion. Vilhena may not be world class but he gives something the side needs. I think Tonny and Frankie in the 6 and 8 could be the right balance.
If I was coaching Wijnaldum I’d either persevere with him at 10 or try him at wing back, but not 6/8 for the future of this side.
