Phillip Cocu’s side went into the game on the back of the 2-1 win over CSKA Moscow in midweek which booked PSV’s place in the last 16 of the Champions League.
The atmosphere in the stadium was electrifying, but on the pitch the PSV player’s failed to respond and couldn’t create any clear cut chances to open the scoring. The best chance of the first half actually fell to Roda JC but Jeroen Zoet denied Hicham Faik when the midfielder raced in on goal.
Six minutes into the second half Roda JC silenced the home crowd with the opening goal. The linesman failed to spot that Edwin Gyasi was offside, and the winger’s ball across the box was worked into the net by Tomi Juric with help from right back Joshua Brenet.
The goal woke the lackluster PSV up and they eventually equalised on 74 minutes when Davy Propper sent a header into the net from Andres Guardado’s free kick. Late chances came for PSV to find the winner but Luuk de Jong sent a free header wide, while Hector Moreno couldn’t work a corner into the net.
After draws already this season against Heerenveen, ADO Den Haag, Willem II, and Excelsior, PSV have once again been held by a side in the bottom half and could slip six points behind leaders Ajax. Roda JC climb to 14th with the point.
