The deal to take Depay to Manchester United was announced midweek, and the winger showed why Louis van Gaal showed determination to seal his signature, with a stunning free kick which lit up the first half against Heracles.
The champions dominated from the start, but chances were far and few between before Depay curled a thirty yard free kick over the wall and into the bottom corner for his 22nd league goal. Minutes later Depay nearly scored another free kick, but this time goalkeeper Bram Castro got across to tip the goal-bound shot over the bar.
At the start of the second half Adam Maher struck a shot against the post, before PSV finally made it 2-0 on the 64th minute as Jetro Willems cross hit Luuk de Jong and curled past Castro.
PSV continued to create chance after chance, but failed to add another goal as Depay left the field just before the end to a standing ovation. Youngster Steven Bergwijn was also handed his Eredivisie debut by Phillip Cocu.
The win puts PSV on 85 points for the season, while Heracles remain safe in 14th.
