The 16-year-old was sent on loan to PSV at the end of last season after FIFA adjudged that Barcelona had signed the youngster illegally from Ajax in 2011, and were unable to register him.
According to Eindhoven Dagblad, Barcelona have now been forced to release the young winger, and PSV are hoping to turn his loan into a permanent deal by offering him a three year deal. However they face competition from Adekanye’s former club Ajax, and Premier League club Liverpool who have also made their interest known to the player’s agent.
Adekanye was born in Nigeria but moved with his parents to the Netherlands when he was four.
