PSV Eindhoven has confirmed the signing of Augsburg left-back Philipp Max on a four-year deal.

PSV have been looking for a new left-back this summer with a permanent deal for Ricardo Rodriguez not possible.

With Max, PSV has their new defender with the 26-year-old signing a four-year deal. Augsburg reportedly receive around €8 million for the German.

PSV technical manager John de Jong told the club’s website, “Philipp is an attacking back who fulfills his position as we like to see it. I myself saw him at the Olympic Games in 2016 in a few appearances. I was there for Lozano and Germany was in the group with Mexico. After that we often saw him play at Augsburg.

“We have a good overview of his development. He now has almost 150 matches in the Bundesliga behind his name and now there was an opportunity to get him. We are happy that it worked.”
