Che Nunnely netted a double as Willem II defeated PSV Eindhoven 2-1 in Tilburg. It was a sixth straight match without a win for Mark van Bommel’s side.

After his errors in the defeat to LASK Linz in midweek, Jeroen Zoet was dropped to the bench for the clash against Willem II. Lars Unnerstall came in to start in goal.

In the seventh minute, Unnerstall was already picking the ball out of his net with Che Nunnely tapping in to give the hosts the lead.

The former Ajax winger should have made it 2-0 but after bursting through, he fired inches wide. At the other end, Cody Gakpo was close to an equaliser but his shot came back off the woodwork.

Just before the break, Nunnely got another great chance to make it 2-0 but Unnerstall stood tall to deny the forward when he was through one-on-one with the stopper.

PSV failed to improve after the break and eventually, Nunnely did get his second in the 64th minute which a strong low strike from an angle.

Kostas Mitroglou and Gaston Pereiro were brought on and PSV went looking for a way back into the game but Timo Wellenreuther denied Mohammed Ihattaren.

With six minutes left, PSV did pull one back when Pereiro found the top corner from the edge of the box.

PSV pushed forward in the final few minutes but Willem II held on to inflict another defeat on Van Bommel’s side, who last won six games ago.

PSV are now 11 points behind Ajax in third while Willem II are 6th.
