PSV hoped to re-sign Marco van Ginkel on loan from Chelsea, but a knee problem scuppered that deal and the club have been forced to look elsewhere for a new central midfielder. Utrecht’s Bart Ramselaar has been heavily linked, but his price tag is a worry for the Eredivisie champions and they could turn to Newcastle United’s Siem de Jong.
Technical manager Marcel Brands told ED that De Jong is an option, “But there are so many. We will certainly do something, but what exactly I will tell later, ”
De Jong is currently out injured with a hamstring problem and Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez was unsure of the Dutchman’s future when asked by the Evening Chronicle
Benitez said, “It depends. I was talking with him (on Friday morning). The first thing is to see if he can be fit. I have no doubt about his quality.
“He’s a player that can help a lot in some games because of his quality and experience. But at the same time, he’s like some other players. We have a lot of players at the moment.
“I want to be sure we have enough, but not too many.”
