psv mamn u19The young Dutch side started the game on top with Sam Lammer’s close range shot being touched onto the post by Manchester United’s goalkeeper Dean Henderson after only two minutes, while Martijn Berden also came close to scoring with two shots which just cleared the crossbar.

However after 28 minutes the visitors took the lead through Callum Gribbin, who curled a free kick from the edge of the box past Yanick van Osch.

Two minutes into the second half Manchester United were awarded a penalty after a foul by Maarten Peijnenburg on the Red Devil’s Dutch defender Timothy Fosu Mensah and Marcus Rashford made it 2-0 from the spot. Rashford then completed the scoring with twenty minutes to go.

A poor start by PSV in the competition and they will need to get themselves back into the group when they face CSKA Moscow in two weeks.
