bakkali aThis morning De Telegraaf reported that a deal between the two clubs had already been agreed, but PSV director Marcel Brands has moved quickly to refute this claim.

Brands told VI, Its certainly not agreed, but Atletico is very interested and know what we want. We might be able to come to an agreement.”

If Atletico do agree a fee with PSV, the Spanish club would then have to convince Bakkali that his future lies at the club, and Brands doubts whether the youngster would want the move.

He added, “To be honest, I do not see Zakaria go abroad at this time. I do not rule out that he just stays with us. There are also some other clubs interested in him, but Atletico is the only concrete. ”

“He can still extend his contract with us and if he then chooses to strengthen his efforts to PSV, with heart and soul, that’s fine. If he chooses a transfer I am also at peace with it. ”

Bakkali has one-year left on his deal with PSV, but has so far refused to extend his contract, which has seen the club banish the hugely talented Belgian to the reserves.
