The Eredivisie champions have fond memories of their passage to the knockout stage of the competition last season, but they face an uphill task to get out of their group this year after being drawn with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, Russian side Rostov who knocked out Ajax in the play-offs, and Atletico Madrid, who ended PSV’s run in the competition last season.
PSV’s first tie will be at home to Atletico Madrid on the 13th of September, before a trip to Russia to face Rostov two weeks later. The group will end with a home tie against Rostov. On the 1st of November, the Philips stadion plays hosts to Bayern Munich, with Arjen Robben returning to the club where he spent two years.
