Ihattaren, who turns 19 on Friday, currently has a deal with PSV Eindhoven until mid-2022.
PSV are hoping to extend this to avoid having to sell the youngster in the summer. They have been talking about a new deal for a while, but will step up talks with Mino Raiola in the coming weeks.
Ihattaren had a difficult start to the season but indicated that he was happy with PSV. The club also has a good relationship with Raiola so are confident over a deal.
One player that will not be signing a new contract is Denzel Dumfries, who has set his sights on a transfer abroad.
