PSV Eindhoven are eight points clear at the top of the Eredivisie after a 2-0 victory over NAC Breda.

Without the suspended Hirving Lozano, Cody Gakpo came into the starting line-up, while Mohammed Ihattaren kept his spot over Gaston Pereiro.

PSV dominated the Eredivisie’s bottom side from the start and after only five minutes they took the lead. Gakpo set up Luuk de Jong to slot in.

Despite their early lead, PSV failed to find a second before the break. De Jong and Gakpo missed chances while Angelino hit the bar.

Whistles showed the crowd’s frustrations as PSV failed to kill off the game. Just minutes into the second half, De Jong thought he had made it 2-0 but his goal was eventually ruled out by VAR for Gakpo being offside.

Mark van Bommel made a double change just after the hour mark with Donyell Malen and Michal Sadilek brought on. The former quickly settled the victory for PSV after being set up by Denzel Dumfries.

Steven Bergwijn hit the bar before the end as PSV saw out the victory which saw PSV move eight points ahead of Ajax, who have two games in hand. NAC remains bottom.
