PSV Eindhoven general manager Toon Gerbrands is very happy with the money the club received from Tottenham Hotspur for Steven Bergwijn.

The corona virus outbreak is causing concerns for many clubs in the Eredivisie but it appears that PSV may still post profits this year.

Speaking to VI, Gerbrands said when asked about the finances, “You understand that I can’t officially say anything about that.

“Overall, you can say now that we don’t have to worry about this season’s figures. The conservative budget method that is not used for Champions League football is now worth its weight in gold.”

Gerbrands admitted the money received for Bergwijn in January is a big help, “In retrospect, you can of course be very happy that you were able to sell Steven Bergwijn well at the beginning of this year. That was already a lot of money at the time, but now feels like twice as much. We will need it desperately.”

PSV received around €30 million for the winger from Tottenham and that could increase with bonuses.
