PSV’s abandoned tie against Estoril was completed on Friday with Phillip Cocu’s side earning a 3-3 draw which puts them through to the Europa League knock-out stage. 

wijnestrroIn torrential rain on Thursday the tie was abandoned at half time with Estoril leading 3-2. Memphis Depay had given PSV the lead after six minutes before Toze equalised on twelve minutes. Luciano Narsingh restored PSV’s lead, but Kurca’s header and Diogo Amado’s close range effort gave the Portuguese side a half time lead.

The game resume on Friday evening with PSV looking for the equaliser and striker Luuk de Jong forced goalkeeper Paweł Kieszek into a fine save with a volley, while Santiago Arias also saw a shot well saved.

Estoril looked like they were going to hold onto the lead, but with eight minutes to go Georginio Wijnaldum burst through the defence before rounding Kieszek and slotting into the empty net. Kleber missed a glorious chance to give Estoril the win late on and PSV held onto the point which sees them confirm 2nd place in the group.

PSV now join Feyenoord in the Europa league knockout stages.
