PSV Eindhoven have confirmed that Marco van Ginkel will return to the club on a new one-year loan deal from Chelsea.

The midfielder has spent two loan spells with PSV over the past two seasons, and the club were keen to make the move permanent this summer. However, they couldn’t agree a fee and instead will settle for Van Ginkel returning on a season-long loan deal.

There is no option to make the move permanent in the new deal, with Van Ginkel expected to join up with the PSV squad this Monday.

Van Ginkel joined Chelsea from Vitesse in 2013, but injuries have hampered his time in England, limiting him to only four appearances for the Premier League champions. He has spent time on loan with AC Milan and Stoke, before joining PSV on loan for the first time in January 2016.

Over the past two seasons, Van Ginkel has made 31 appearances for PSV, scoring fifteen times. He becomes the club’s third signing of the summer after Hirving Lozano and Derrick Luckassen.
