PSV Eindhoven came from behind to beat Utrecht 2-1 and get their season off to a perfect start.

utre psv knsgkPSV had a great start to the season after lifting the Johan Cruijff schaal last week but they struggled in the first half against Utrecht, despite the introduction of Steven Bergwijn, who was handed his first Eredivisie start.

After only fifteen minutes Utrecht took the lead with Sebastien Haller heading in from close range, and later in the first half Yassin Ayoub should have made it 2-0 but the midfielder blasted into the side netting from close range.

At half-time Bergwijn was hooked for centre back Daniel Schwaab and PSV dominated the second half, equalising six minutes after the break with Davy Propper finding the bottom corner with a strike from just outside the box. Jetro Willems and Andres Guardado then went close before Gaston Pereiro gave PSV the lead with a free kick which fooled Robbin Ruiter and nestled in the corner.

Utrecht pushed for a late equaliser, but PSV’s defence held out for a win.
