Bergwijn had already reached a verbal agreement to extend his contract in Eindhoven but had to wait until he turned 18 to sign the contract, which he did on Friday.
The winger has come through the youth ranks at PSV and is considered to be one of the biggest attacking talents in the Netherlands. Bergwijn has made two Eredivisie appearances for the first team so far, including as a substitute in the 2-1 win over Ajax two weeks ago.
Bergwijn told the official PSV website after putting pen to paper, “I am very proud and happy that the club is showing such confidence in me.”
Coach Phillip Cocu added, “He is eager to learn and has become a true professional. He will do his very best to become a key player in PSV´s senior team. Stevie Bergwijn is a versatile and skilful player.”
