The young Dutch side went into the game unbeaten in the competition so far, having drawn their opening game against Atletico before hammering Rostov 6-0 in Russia.
PSV started well against Bayern with Dirk Abels curling an effort wide after being found by Sam Lammers. Abels made up for his miss just before the half hour mark when he robbed Bayern defender Maxime Awoudja and squeezed a shot into the net to give PSV a half-time lead.
Ten minutes after the break, PSV doubled their lead as Sam Lammers controlled the ball on the edge of the box before curling a lovely strike past goalkeeper Ron-Thorben Hofmann. Bayern pushed for a way back into the game but their chances were ended ten minutes from time when Timothy Tillmann saw his second yellow card and was sent off.
