The striker was on the end of a rash challenge by PSV loanee Marcel Ritzmaier in the first half and had to be substituted at half time.
After the game coach Phillip Cocu stated his belief that the injury would rule De Jong out of the tie with CSKA Moscow this week. He said, “If I have to just look at it, I do not think he will play on Wednesday.”
It is now likely that Jurgen Locadia will lead the line in Moscow on Wednesday as PSV go looking for their second win in the Champions League this season.
