Spartak Moscow’s Dutch winger Quincy Promes says Manchester United were interested in signing him last summer.

promes spaThe 23 year old moved from FC Twente to Russian side Spartak Moscow for £9.5 million last summer, but he revealed Manchester United were tracking him before his move. A concrete offer was never made by the Premier League side, and Promes admitted he didn’t think he was ready to play for Louis van Gaal’s side.

This is what the winger said on Manchester United interest, “I can confirm that, but a concrete proposal did not exist.

“Frankly, I felt at that moment not ready to make the transfer to Manchester.

“Who could guarantee me that I would not be constantly overlooked at United.”

Promes has three international caps to his name with his debut coming last year under current Red Devils manager Louis van Gaal.
