Lazio director Igli Tare confirmed on Monday that the contract on offer to De Vrij had been withdrawn and the Dutch international will leave the club when his deal ends in the summer.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, four major European clubs are interested in signing De Vrij, especially Inter Milan, who have been heavily linked with the 26-year-old for months.

Barcelona have also registered concrete interest as the club look to add another centre-back to their squad for next season. Chelsea and Atletico Madrid are the other big clubs said to be in the race alongside Russian side Zenit St Petersburg. However, the chances of De Vrij choosing a move to Russia is believed to be nil.
