The 20-year-old earned his first cap as a late substitute in the 1-1 draw against Belgium last week and was named in the starting line-up for Sunday’s 3-1 win over Luxembourg. Ramselaar put in a polished performance and was one of the few Dutch stars given a good rating by the media on Monday.
Speaking to Omroep Brabant, Ramselaar was asked if his first Netherlands start would change his behaviour at PSV, “No, it will not. Pretty much everyone at PSV is an international, so I’m not going to behave differently now. With this debut, it is a dream come true for me. This is what I always wanted to achieve and I am very proud.”
Ramselaar had posters of Arjen Robben and Wesley Sneijder on his wall as a child and now he has lined up alongside them for Netherlands. He added on the posters, “Yes, on the ceiling. I could always look at it before I went to sleep. I wanted to one day be such a player myself. I have now played together with them and it is a very special feeling.”
