Reading FC have agreed to sign Ajax’s Pelle Clement on a three-year deal.

The 21-year-old made his first team debut for Ajax last season in the KNVB Cup match with Kozakken Boys and scored twice in a comfortable win. He went on to play four times under Peter Bosz, scoring three times but has now departed for England.

Reading have confirmed the signing of Clement on a deal until 2020, with the youngster linking up with Jaap Stam, who knows him from his days as Jong Ajax coach.

Stam told the official Reading website, “Pelle is a player who comes to us from Jong Ajax, having been involved in the first team squad over in Amsterdam last season.

“He will need to learn and adapt to the game over here of course, but he is a young, very promising player with a good personality. He is quick, technically good and has good stamina – and he is capable of playing in midfield, up front or in the wide or wing back positions. So I’m pleased to have him with us here in Reading.”
