Algemeen Dagblad are reporting that Real Madrid remain firmly in charge of Donny van de Beek’s future this summer.

On Saturday, De Telegraaf and The Times reported that Manchester United were hoping to hijack Real Madrid’s move for Van de Beek.

However, Real Madrid have a deal in place for Van de Beek already and all that’s standing in the way of the midfielder signing is a medical.

AD reports that Real Madrid remains firm favourites to sign the 23-year-old, with Manchester United only an alternative. Should Real Madrid press ahead then the deal is done, but the corona virus outbreak has thrown doubt on proceedings with it unclear whether the Spanish giants want to spend €50 million on the Dutch international.

Manchester United then come into contention if Real Madrid pulls out. AD adds, “Whether Van de Beek finds that really interesting, after the largest club on earth was already on the doorstep, only he knows.”
