Former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp has heaped praise on Dutch centre-back Virgil van Dijk and believes he has all the qualities to play for either Barcelona or Real Madrid.

Van Dijk has excelled in the Premier League since joining Southampton from Celtic in 2015 and put in another colossal performance on Sunday as Southampton beat Burnley 3-1.
The match was shown live on Sky Sports, and their pundit Jamie Redknapp admitted his admiration for van Dijk, “Toby Alderweireld is the best central defender in the league, but Van Dijk is not far behind. Van Dijk is the ideal modern central defender. He would fit in with Barcelona or Real Madrid. He is good enough.”
