In a crucial game at the bottom of the table, Willem II and ADO Den Haag played out a 1-1 draw. The officials

Both sides went into the game in big trouble and on 13 points, with Willem II a place above ADO Den Haag thanks to a slightly better goal difference.

The first-half showed why both sides are relegation candidates with neither able to create clear-cut chances. The big talking points of the first-half were decisions made by referee Siemen Mulder. He disallowed a goal by Wesley Spieringhs for a soft foul before he missed a good shout for a penalty at the other end for a foul on Ricardo Kishna.

Just before the break, ADO Den Haag were reduced to ten men with Tomislav Gomelt shown a straight red card for a stupid foul on Kwasi Wriedt.

Early in the second half, Willem II were awarded a questionable penalty for a challenge by Michiel Kramer on Spieringhs. Mike Tresor slotted in the spot-kick to make it 1-0.

However, ADO were then awarded a penalty of their own for a clumsy foul by Jordens Peters on Kramer. Shaquille Pinas made no mistake for the equaliser.

Mulder then brandished his second red-card of the game for Willem II captain Jordens Peters, who was shown his second yellow card.

Neither side came close to finding a winning goal before the end and they remain in the same spots at the bottom. ADO Den Haag are 17th and Willem II 16th. They are both five points above Emmen, but eight behind VVV-Venlo.
