The centre-back will undergo his medical in Berlin on Friday before putting pen to paper on a four-year deal with Hertha, who have paid Marseille around €2.5 million for the Dutchman.

The transfer brings an end to a disappointing spell in France for Rekik who has seen his career stall with Marseille. The 22-year-old joined the Ligue 1 side in 2015, and was a regular in his first season with the club. However, this season he fell out of the first team and only made 12 appearances.

The former Manchester City defender was also linked with a return to PSV where he spent two years on loan. However, PSV couldn’t compete with Hertha Berlin’s offer.
