The 20-year-old has a contract until 2016 in Manchester, but the club have been impressed by his spell at PSV and want to extend the deal further to avoid Rekik leaving for free after next season.
Speaking as a guest on FC Onder Ons, Rekik confirmed Manchester City want to extend his contract, but also that he will be loaned out again next season.
Rekik said, “They want to extend and then send me somewhere else again.”
The centre back has spent the last two seasons on loan with PSV Eindhoven, and is open to a third, “It certainly would not be punishment for another year to play for PSV. There is no decision yet.”
Rekik has made 47 league appearances for PSV over the past two seasons, and earned one cap for the Netherlands national team.
