Marseille announced on Tuesday that they had agreed a deal in principle with Manchester City, and pending a medical the 20-year-old will complete a move to France. The fee for the deal is believed to be £5 million.
Rekik has spent the last two seasons on loan with PSV Eindhoven, and although the Eredivisie champions were hoping to make the centre back’s deal permanent, he has chosen a new adventure.
The Dutch international joined Manchester City from Feyenoord in 2011, but only made one appearance for the first team, while also spending time on loan with Blackburn Rovers and Portsmouth.
