Rijkaard, who was in charge of Barcelona between 2003 and 2008, has not taken another head coach role since leaving his position with the Saudi Arabian national team in 2013.

Speaking to Heroes, Rijkaard confirmed that he will not return to the dugout and stated his belief that coaching was not really for him despite his success with Barcelona.

He said, “Then you get back to cliché “Never say never”, but no, I will not return as a trainer.”

“I did it from 1998 until four years ago, and if I’m honest with myself, I do not really see myself as an authentic trainer myself. So I’ve done something for about sixteen years which is not directly a match for me. But I did it with made heart and soul, I worked hard, was always willing to see games and make video analysis. ”

The 54-year-old started his coaching career with the Dutch national team before spells with Sparta Rotterdam, Barcelona, Galatasaray and Saudi Arabia.
