RKC Waalwijk have their first win of the season after a 1-0 victory at Heracles Almelo.

Ola John made a return to the Eredivisie on deadline day but was only named on the RKC Waalwijk bench.

He watched on as his new side took the lead in the 26th minute. Said Bakari’s strike from just outside the box nestled into the bottom corner.

Heracles were awarded a penalty when Luuk Wouters fouled Silvester van der Water but Kostas Lamprou kept out Rai Vloet’s spot-kick.

Heracles pushed for an equaliser in the second half but the closest they came was a strike from Delano Burgzorg that hit the crossbar. Ola John made his entrance with 15 minutes to go and helped RKC see out their first win of the campaign.

RKC climbs to 15th while Heracles are two spots above them.
