RKC Waalwijk’s chances of survival took a blow after they were held to a 1-1 draw by PEC Zwolle on Sunday.

klich bIn a end to end first half it was the visitors who came the closest to breaking the deadlock just before the break with Ryan Thomas crashing a fierce drive off the bar.

The deadlock was broken ten minutes into the second half when substitute Daniel de Ridder curled a brilliant effort into the bottom corner to give RKC the lead.

RKC weren’t in front for long as PEC Zwolle found an equaliser on 65 minutes as midfielder Mateusz Klich was given to much space to fire a low drive into the corner from just outside the box.

Both sides pushed for a winner, but the game remained 1-1, which is not a result the home side were needing. The point means they are still three points from safety, and with only two games to go it seems certain they will be in the end of season play-offs. PEC Zwolle remain comfortable in 9th place.
