The 33-year-old has suffered a number of injuries over the past few seasons and that led him to consider his future with the Dutch national team. However, after speaking to Danny Blind and his family, Robben has decided to continue with Netherlands and is targeting the World Cup in 2018.

Robben told De Telegraaf, “I told myself to make a choice between focusing solely on Bayern or continuing with both Bayern and the national team.

“I discussed it with my wife and family as well as with national team coach Danny Blind.

“I have been match fit for quite some time now. That is why I made the decision to continue with both Bayern and Oranje [Netherlands].

“I want to go to the World Cup again with Netherlands.”
