memphis-eefjfksSpeaking to goal Deutschland, Robben said, “I expect him to move shortly… perhaps he’ll move as early as the winter break,” in reference to Memphis Depay, who has struggled to even get into Jose Mourinho’s United side, let alone start.

Robben added, “It’s a shame it hasn’t worked out for him at United… he’s a very talented player.”

Following impressive World Cup performances, and firing PSV to their first championship in nearly a decade by scoring 22 league goals, Depay was brought to Manchester United for £25 million. In his first season, he was allowed time to adapt by then manager Louis Van Gaal, however, after a string of disappointing performances, Van Gaal relegated him to the bench for most of last season’s latter half. When Mourinho was brought in to replace Van Gaal, that seems to be the final nail in the coffin of Memphis’s United career.

Depay looks most likely to join another Netherland’s compatriot, with Ronald Koeman publicly stating he was interested in the winger. Other clubs in England, Italy and Germany are said to have shown interest, however, Depay has stated his preference to stay in England.

I'm a digital/social marketer out of Chicago. I grew up loving Dutch football - total football is the only way to play. I support PSV in the Eredivisie, and whatever team has the most Dutch guys on it in any other league. Hup Holland Hup!
