Last week, Robben came out of retirement to sign for his boyhood club, which has peaked interest in the club’s season tickets.
The club has now sold 11,408 season tickets, and well on its way to reaching their 15,000 limit.
Speaking to the Dagblad van het Noorden, marketing manager Edwin Froma said, “We are the only club in the Netherlands that has already sold more season tickets than in the previous season. This is a direct result of Arjen Robben’s return to his childhood sweetheart. A lot of people want to be there,”
The club shop has also seen a boost in sales of the club’s new home shirt with head of merchandising Tim van der Molen telling RTV Noord, “It is assembly line work, it is really very busy. Since the weekend we have already received almost 1700 orders. We are just printing, preparing; it goes on. And people keep coming in the store, everyone wants shirts.
“I happened to see one passing by this morning with Van Hintum on it. That is the first shirt for the 2020/2021 season with a different name than Robben. That says something, this has caused a lot,”
