He spoke of Roda JC avoiding a potential banana skin in the cup and that he feels that winning the match has given them some confidence heading forward.

Molenaar said, ”It is well known that these types of cup games can be a banana skin but we managed to deal with it well with a good first half performance.

”Sometimes it happens in the KNVB cup where an amateur team beats a professional team but we can look back at a fine game tonight from our point of view.

”We want to achieve success here at Roda JC and we have not had a good start to the season and the cup game tonight has done us good.

”We will continue with our process and we look forward to our next game away against Heracles Almelo in the Eredivisie this weekend.”
